Friendswood Development to build community for 1,400 homes in Baytown

Friendswood Development Co. said Wednesday it has started building a master-planned community in Baytown that will bring more than 1,400 new homes to the area.
The new development, to be called Baytown Crossings, will span 514 acres at Garth and Wallisville roads. It follows the completion of Friendswood's Bay River Colony in Baytown.
"The success of Bay River Colony and the opportunity to acquire more acreage in this area along with the strong demands for affordably priced new homes create an ideal setting for this new community," Robert Santini, community development manager for Friendswood Development Company, said in a statement.
Many of the homes will be priced between $200,000 and $300,000. Builders were not announced, but the company said the homes will be developed on 50-and 60-foot lots. The company plans a summer 2019 opening.
