SBA Houston's District Office Resource Partner - SCORE Houston is providing a workshop designed to help small businesses not only survive but thrive in the current economy. You will also have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a SCORE mentor and a banker to discuss your unique situation and network with other small businesses who are facing similar challenges.
The Workshop will be presented in two parts:
Business Alternatives for the Entrepreneur
You want to own a business but you face a choice. Should I start up a new business or should I buy an existing business or buy a franchise?
We will review the ten most important factors you need to consider in evaluating each of the alternatives.
Sample topics include: What management experience is required? Is funding one alternative easier than funding another? Will you control your own destiny? What are the valuation metrics?
Presented by Rob Gay – SCORE Mentor
Rob has over 15 years of financial structuring and management experience as a banker and corporate finance specialist, including 8 years in international and emerging markets.
He has lead major financial transactions both as a lender and a corporate borrower. He has acted as a financial advisor to numerous joint ventures and consortiums for acquisitions, international competitive bids, and structuring agreements for developmental stage projects.
Previously, Rob worked as a small business consultant, and he is currently on the board of the Bay Area Habitat for Humanity and advises them on banking, budgeting, cash flow management, and land acquisition. Rob is a certified SCORE mentor.
