May 2, 2018
San Antonio-based H-E-B Grocery Co. opened its Mont Belvieu store on May 2.
To celebrate the store's opening, H-E-B donated $10,000 to the Barbers Hill Independent School District, according to a press release.
The 87,000-square-foot grocery store is open every day from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. It’s at 13401 Interstate 10 E. within the Mont Belvieu Crossing shopping center at the northwest corner of I-10 and FM 3180/Eagle Drive. Houston-based Fidelis Realty Partners is developing the center.
According to Fidelis’ marketing materials, the new H-E-B is the first large anchor grocery store in the extended Mont Belvieu area. The store broke ground in August.
“I am thrilled to open a store on ‘my side of town,’” Penny Durant, unit director at the new H-E-B, said in another press release. “This area believes in building a strong sense of community, values education and I believe that same recipe will formulate our success here at H-E-B.”
Troy Murray, perishable leader; Brian Croyle, center store leader; and Kim Kelly, community coordinator, are also part of the store’s leadership team.
The store will offer new features such as curbside pickup and H-E-B Meal Simple, a selection of more than 200 oven-ready options. It also will have more than 1,500 H-E-B Organics products, a large assortment of Texas-made products, seafood delivered seven days a week, a Texas Backyard department, a full-service scratch bakery and tortilleria, a selection of more than 350 cheeses, more than 1,200 bottles of wine and 700 beers on hand plus a dedicated wine steward on duty.
H-E-B operates 400 stores in Texas and Mexico and has annual sales of about $25 billion. It’s also the largest for-profit private employer in the Houston area, with 24,437 local employees as of last summer, according to Houston Business Journal research.
